Overview

Un requin lamnidé d'eaux froides de l'Atlantique Nord et de l'océan Austral. Endotherme, comme le grand blanc. Intensément pêché pour sa viande ; vulnérable à l'échelle mondiale. Parfois confondu avec le grand blanc en raison d'une morphologie similaire.

Habitat

Des zones côtières aux bancs de pêche continentaux au large. On les trouve occasionnellement en plein océan, à des profondeurs allant de moins de 1 à 700 m [1 à 2296,6 pieds].

Distribution

North Atlantic & Arctic

Les requins se trouvent dans l'Atlantique Nord et dans les zones d'eaux froides de 1 à 18°C [33,8 à 64,4°F] dans l'hémisphère sud. On ne les trouve pas dans les mers équatoriales.

Behavior
